HELP !!!! We want Hockey Publicity .... Yes??
Please read this....
Clubs please note contact details for teams, if incorrect please let me know, as these contacts have been given to the Shepp news Sports Editor as a contact point for blurbs on games for publication....
I am trying to devise a way we can have results to the paper by Monday morning each week as Shepp News have guaranteed us some publicity each Tuesday.... It would be amazing to have coach or team managers email me accurate details of scores , B&F and goal scorers and if you wish a short run down of the game... It will be wonderful to have hockey covered in the paper each week... but without your support and commitment it will be impossible...
Thank you - all ideas and input welcomed….

Get Out and Get Active
Last Friday The GV Hockey Association was invited to participate in an amazing event led by the
“Active After school communities “ regional co-ordinator Megan Carr Megan.Carr@ausport.gov.au in Shepparton.
This was a great opportunity to Showcase Hockey, develop coaching skills ,learn more about the AASC Playing for life coaching philosophy ,and to be involved in co-facilitating fun sessions….we met 300 local School Children in grade 4, had half hour sessions , in groups of 25…
We were privileged to be led by Hockey Olympiad and state sporting development coach, Katie Allen of the Australia Institute of sport.
Katies enthusiastic and positive energy was inspiring.. GVHA was well represented, with members of SYC, Strikers and Mooroopna Hockey Clubs there to welcome kids and co-coach the sessions.. The kids were able to have a quick insight to the fun Hockey can offer… Katie had sticks, balls, fun drills and skills she managed to keep their attention and they were all smiles…Who knows, out of the 300 kids in attendance, her motivating coaching will inspire many to continue hockey and aim high!.
Each child was given show bag which included lots of goodies and the Shepp News junior sport lift out, and a full color brochure ( see attached ) featuring all GVHA hockey clubs, the contact details and a rundown of the benefits of Hockey skills (..I have more of these flyers to distribute, please let me know if you need some…)
Tom Kneebone from www.hockey.org.au provided the GVHA with 300 ,’Hook in2 Hockey’ drink bottles: these are available to clubs to collect, and distribute free to kids participating in Active After school hockey sessions or Minkey sessions…Please contact me if you need some..
Overall it was a really wonderful day, sun shining and great chance to showcase hockey, to kids who may not necessarily be exposed to the game…
Andrea Snow from Hockey Vic has also sent through some great information regarding free coach the coach seminars available to us…..Any Club members wishing to register for training, accreditation..either follow the link www.ausport.gov.au or contact me. stu.treez@bigpond.com
GVHA will be following up with schools in our region, within the next few weeks and offering the chance to express interest in having our accredited coaches come out to the schools to offer coaching and fun..
Thanks to all those who participated on day, and to Hockey Victoria, and Active After School Community programs for the opportunity to be involved!!!
