| As reported in
the Riverine Herald on September 2007, Campaspe Shire in conjunction with the
Echuca College and local sporting bodies, including the Echuca-Moama Hockey Club
was successful in obtaining the required funds to construct a new synthetic turf. The
current situation has the Hockey Club training on a substandard surface and playing
all games in Shepparton. As a result of this, the club has struggled over the
last few years to attract new players and the existing player numbers have declined
and the long term future did not look positive. With the construction of
the new surface it is believed that not only will the club attract new players
but will also improve on the social front as we will have a home facility that
includes a high quality playing surface. The turf will enable the club to
return to the force it was in the mid 1990's. With the construction of the
turf comes a financial obligation that the Echuca-Moama Hockey Club must meet.
The Club must contribute $30,000 towards the project and have currently raised
approximately $10,000. The Club is seeking any interest from current and
previous players that have been involved with the club over an extended period.
The current scenario involves acknowledging all those who make a contibution.
The Club has not finalised the method in which people will be recognised, however
this may be in the format of a honour board or wall or even for lesser amounts,
engraved bricks or pavers. The board/wall would be situated in the clubhouse and
could list all benefactors as follows:- - Gold - $1000+
- Silver
- $500+
- Bronze - $250+
- Other - less than $250
As a
result of your involvement with the club we are inviting you to become a benefactor
and assist the Club in fufilling its obligations. A donation, no matter how large
or small would be appreciated and a gift to the future of hockey in Echuca. It
would be appreciated if I could be advised if you are able to make a contribution
towards this facility that will benefit many generations to come. In addition
to seeking contributions the Club will also be undertaking various fundraising
events throughout the season. For any further information contact President
